Last night was fantastic. Slept til 2;30.  In my defense, i was up until about 5:30am fuckin’ around (not to be taken literally) on the internet and playin gamez, probz fell asleep around 6ish.  Got up, hung around in my room, got lunch, played some more Golden Sun:  The Lost Age, then went to work at 4:45.

Sadly, it was one of my favorite coworkers’ last night there! So, we enjoyed our shift together, closed up shop, and said our goodbyes at the end of the night.  Her friends were throwing her a farewell party.  UNFORTUNATELY, i could not attend because i had other plans that I had made moooonths in advance.

WHICH BRINGS ME to the fun part.  Last Night, I got to see my dear, dear friend Kathy, who I haven’t seen in like, a year and a half.  My boyfriend and I met up with her – and her friend Chad – at Macado’s in Roanoke for some dinner/drinks.  Had a margarita (which, honestly was WEAKsawce), a shot of SoCo, and this milkshake-ish drink (it had Bailey’s and stuff in it – it was good).  So, hardly drunk.  Hell, i was barely even tipsy, but it was still a great night.  Will very much enjoyed meeting them, and they very much enjoyed meeting him, so it was good times.

Today, we’re all supposed to meet up in the ‘noke again to go see Shutter Island.  I’m super excited because I’ve wanted to see this movie for ages, even when I saw previews for it saying it would be released in October, but it got pushed back to February.  So we’re all supposed to go see that tomorrow.  Should be a blast.

So anyway, since I was a super good student last night, I’m hanging out with Will tonight, and we’re going to this restaurant in Pulaski called Fatz.  From what he has described to me, it sounds AMAZING.  First off, the food looks and sounds phenomenal.  Second, they have a PAGER SYSTEM for your waiter, which is good for me because I’m very… uh, needy at restaurants.  THAT POOR SERVER, is all i’m going to say.  Also, they’re honest.  I mean, they’re called FATZ, not THINZ.  they know they serve disgusting-for-you food <3.

I.  Closure with Ben and Carsen:  As you may know from previous entries, I was having trouble for a while moving past them.  They had invited me to their Halloween/House-warming party, and due to the fear of things being awkward, I originally said no.  Then, after talking things through with my amazing friend, Lan-anh, she said it’d be a good chance to spend time with them without the awkward one-on-one setting.  So I decided to attend, and I am glad I did.  Seeing them again in a non-romantic setting was nice.  I was nervous as anything, since it was my first time seeing them since we decided to split our triadic relationship… Again, I was afraid of things being awkward, since I do not do well in awkward situations.  But I ended up having a good time.  Met some pretty cool people.  Although, for humor purposes, it’s worth mentioning that the party essentially segregated itself into two parties.  The gay party (which mostly hung out in the dining room), and the straight party (save for myself, ben, and carsen, who chose to hang out in there).  This is why I can’t stand faggots.  They’re so cliquey and see themselves as better than everyone else.  Get off your fucking high horse before I stab you.  Even still, the party was fun and I enjoyed the “straight” room very much.

II.  Windows 7.   yes, I made the upgrade to windows 7.   I must say I am VERY impressed with what Microsoft has done.  A lot of the seemingly-random bugginess that Windows Vista had all the time, is non-existent in Windows 7.  I’ve yet to have the system just freeze and say it needs to be restarted like it did all the time in vista.  Most programs (at least the ones I have) seem to be compatible with Windows 7.  And, again, no problems as of yet so we’ll see how this continues to go.  I highly recommend it <3

III.  Wallaby.  Otherwise known as Will Willoughby, is a guy i’ve met that i’m interested in.  He’s really nice, and we’re a lot alike.  We spend a lot of time with each other… and so far we really like each other.  I just feel bad because I’m not ready to be in a full-on relationship.  I just enjoy the stage of liking each other… going further than that means risk.  And after everything I’ve been through with guys, risk is something I’m not comfortable with.  I’m just afraid that I may one day push another good one away.  Sigh.  Oh well.  I’ll just at least try to enjoy it for now.

Well.  those are the major things I wanted to touch on for now.  Its almost thanksgiving break, thank goodness… I need a break from school.

Monday.  The very first academic thing I had that morning was an Introductory Psych exam.  WELL of course this would be the morning that my alarms are going to go on vacation and just not ring.  So, I overslept and missed the exam.  As soon as I woke up and realized what I had done, I emailed the professor for the course asking if there was anything I could do.  He said I could take the make-up exam on Friday with the students that were ill; however, since oversleeping isn’t considered and excused absence, I would have to take a ten percent grade penalty.  Then, I went to Environmental Tox and Pathogenic bacteriology, and nothing major happened.  I got out of Patho, and went to go hang out with Lan-anh and Jen to eat some subwayeatfresh.  Then, I came back to my room at around 6 or 7ish… Turned on my computer… and so began the saga known as the Computer Wars.

Upon turning on my computer after all that, I noticed  that no sound was coming out of my computer, with a little error message over the speaker icon in the system tray stating “No Audio Output Device is Installed.”   Thinking this was just a random error, I restarted my computer.  When it came back on, it was still there.  Still not panicking, I decided to try two more restarts.  Still, the message persisted.  I became slightly worried at this point.  My next step was trying to backtrack my computer with a System Restore (goes back to an earlier checkpoint where you know things were working correctly)… Knowing I hadn’t installed anything new, I backtracked to a few days before.  After the restore was over, the message was still there.  The last idea I had was doing a complete system recovery (return computer to out-of-box condition)… Which I ended up having to do twice because after the first one my desktop never wanted to show up.   Anyway, after the double system recover, the message was STILL there.  You know there is a problem when you do a system recovery and the error is still a problem.   I research the problem some on the internet and didn’t find anything helpful for a while.  I stumbled across something that seemed useful, and tried their solution.  IT ACTUALLY WORKED for a while Satisfied, I stay up for a little longer, get on omgpop voicechat with some friends, and then at about 4:15, decide its time for sleep.  I decide to mess with one or two things, then my computer freezes up, forcing me to restart.  After restart, yep, you guessed it:  the problem was back.  I try a few things up my sleeve, and after about an hour, finally get my sound back.  I put my computer to “sleep,” and then go to bed.

Tuesday.  I get up at around 11:15.  Upon waking up my computer, sound is still there and I’m happy.  Windows tells me it needs to install a few important updates, so I let it while I start getting ready for class.   I decide to let them finish installing/restart while I went to my Pathogenic Bacteriology lab.  The lab is very short, and I get back about 45min later.  By this time, sound is gone again.  I just wanted to cry.  So, at this point, I turned to HP tech. support to help, opting to use their online chat tech. support in lieu of phone (because on the phone I always get someone Indian that’s hard to understand).  As is standard procedure, they tell me to try reinstalling drivers for everything, blah blah blah… Doesn’t work.  I really wanted to get the issue fixed so I skipped Parasitology that day.  Am on/off tech support for a couple hours, until they’re completely done with their troubleshooting list.  They then tell me something to the effect of “This seems to be a hardware issue, we could schedule a pickup for your computer for a service charge of $398.”  I just completely go off on them, calling HP’s customer service number to just yell at someone.  Of course, this accomplishes nothing, they feed me bullshit about how “oh this is our standard charge for out-of-warranty computers, blah blah”… The lady was nice about it, she could see I was upset, but I know she was just doing her job.  Still, i was quiet upset.  So, 4:30 rolls around and I go into work, get off, and accept defeat of my computer.  I do my Psychology recitation before bed, and end up going to bed ~5am.

Wednesday.  Probably the least eventful day of the week.  Got up, went to Psychology recitation, left, checked bacteria incubators, washed hands, went to get lunch, came back to my room.  Relaxed some, then went to my bacteriology class.  That evening, I called Best Buy’s geek squad to see if they could provide any insight on the issue I’m having, and they ask me to bring it in for them to take a look at it (free of charge).  After I explained the situation and everything i’ve personally tried to do to fix it, he also tells me its 99% chance hardware issue, and I had two options:  a) try to get work done on the motherboard soundcard (=very very expensive), or b) buy an external express soundcard (not as expensive).  So he gave me a few recommended websites to look for some.  He showed me one for about $90.  I then call dad to tell him what happened at best buy (he wanted to know), and he said he’d send me $100 to cover the cost (yeah my parents are awesome).  I get back to my room, and begin studying for the exam I had on thursday.  (well, I had started previously, but continued studying for most of the night).  Finally make it to bed around 4-5am.

Thursday, I get up at around 11:45, when I have lab scheduled at noon.  OOPS.  I go to lab, and its another short one;  getting out at around 12:30.  I come back to my room and continue studying for the online exam that i have to submit by 8pm.  This presented a dilemma however:  I was scheduled to work from 4:30-9ish.  Sooo basically I would either have to submit the exam before work, or leave early.  Not wanting to risk the chance of not  being able to leave work in enough time, I decide to skip parasitology again (ugh, i felt bad about it that time) to study for the exam and have time to take it.  I submit the exam at around 3:50pm.  I then grab a quick bite to eat (my first meal of that day)  and get ready for work.  I go to work, and get off around 9:15.   I then start studying (i had started studying earlier int he week) for the psychology exam I had on friday.  Due to internet distractions, it took longer than expected to do the reading.  Finally go to bed at 5am (noticing a pattern, anyone???).

Friday.  Woke up around 12pm (YES, sleep!)… Just kinda relaxed some.  Then I had my parasitology lab at 1:30.  Its scheduled til 4pm, but I was allowed to leave early (around 2:20 actually) since my make-up Psych exam was at 3.  So, i left at 2:20ish, and headed for the exam location.  Got there, breezed over my notes, and took the exam.  Felt okay about it.  Then, it was finally the weekend for me … it was an awesome feeling after having such an exhausting, long week.  Can’t remember what I did after that – I think I went to go eat, then relaxed some.   At around 6:30 my friend orlando wanted to know if i wanted to get food.  I wasn’t hungry, but went anyway.  Got a Roast beef sandwich.  It was tasty .  Then, we proceeded to watch the “Sex and the City” movie.  I liked it i’ve never seen the show, but the movie was good.  Then, I came back to my room and just chilled the rest of the night.  I think.

Saturday.  Easy day.  Very relaxing.  Slept til 1:45 when I awoke to my parents calling me.  They had gone to visit my brother up at JMU, and when they left his campus, they called me asking if I wanted them to come down and see me.  Of course, i said yes …  they got here around 3:45ish, took me shopping to get two pairs of shoes (buy one get one half off), and grocery shopping.  Then we went out to dinner at Macado’s.  YUMMMM.    Then, we came back to my room, just chatted for a few minutes, and then they had to get on the road since its a 6 hour drive from here to my hometown.   Around 9pm, my friend randy texts me saying him and Cat (a girl have several classes with) are closing over at applebee’s.  So, I decided to go see them.  Got a free margarita out of it

Sunday (today).   Woke up around 2:20pm (win)… Got up, relaxed… went to go eat at 3ish.  Then went to work at 4:30, got off around 8:50.  I don’t plan on doing much (if any) HW tonight, so it should be an easy night.

The “perfect vampire” should be attractive.  Vampires are experts in the art of seduction, and being attractive certainly enhances this skill.  The vampire should possess greater-than-human strength, speed, agility, dexterity, intelligence, and sensory skills, but not superhuman abilities (reference:  Edward Cullen stopping a several-ton Jeep (i think?) with one hand in “twilight”).   I can’t remember if it was shown or at least alluded to in “Twilight,” but vampires are required to sleep in coffins.  Mere “dark places” during the day are not sufficient.   Vampires should be clinically/biologically dead.  Again, i’m not too sure if this was even explored in “twilight” or “vampire diaries,” but it is a requirement.  Last, but certainly not least, Vampires are creatures of the night.  Throughout most of vampire mythology, it is a well-known belief that when sunlight makes contact with the skin of a vampire, it IMMEDIATELY begins to burn/sizzle/turn to ash.  In more dramatic examples, the vampire bursts into flames immediately.  Either of these are fine with me, as long as the central idea is sunlight = bad.  Glittering ≠ equal bad.

Okay, i’m done ranting.  I hope there are some people out there who agree with this.

Sorry it’s been so long.  School has kept me prettttyyyy busy.  Last week was INSANE for me.  I had a paper due Wednesday, a test on Wednesday, and two quizzes on Thursday.  It was pretty heinous.  The paper was for introductory psych., so it wasn’t too difficult, it was just a matter of sitting down and making myself do it, which that in and of itself is a challenge.  But I finally got it done Tuesday night at 1:30am; count on me to be a super procrastinator.

Then I had my first exam of the semester in Pathogenic Bacteriology.  I didn’t study too much for it, but enough to familiarize myself with the material, went and took it, and felt pretty good about it when leaving the exam.  Grades were posted Friday evening, and it turns out I got a 76 (class average was a 75), so I felt pretty okay about it.  He says the first exam tends to be the lowest-scoring, so as long as I study a little more next time I should be fine in that class.

Then on Thursday, I had a quiz in both Path. Bac. lab and Intro Parasitology.  Both went alright.  :) Speaking of Thu, Tuesdays and Thursdays are already wearing on me and the semester has basically just begun.  They’re quite exhausting days for me.  When they’re over i’m just like x__x.  Thankfully Wednesdays and Fridays are pretty light for me, so I can kinda recover after having such a long day.

So, I’ve given up my weekend this week.  A friend of mine that I work with at the dining hall I work at on-campus needs his shift covered on Saturday, which is a day I usually have off.  WELL not this week.  I decided to be super-nice and cover it, despite it being a home-game weekend.  So it will probably be super crazy on campus.  UGGGHH.  Granted its only 4:30-9:30, so its not like I will be there alllll day, but still, i do have to work both days this weekend and that kinda sucks.  Oh well.  more money on my paycheck, which I could sorely use.

I think that’s all I have to say for the time being.  I just wanted to make a brief update to let the internet world know I’m still alive.

AS you all may know, i’m a horrid blockles addict on www.omgpop.com.  The game was so awesome, and I had so much fun playing it.  I mean, I played 10,000+ rounds of it.  Thats some pretty hardcore dedication.

So, tonight, after a long week of classes/work, I log on to play a few rounds.  and.  Blockles has changed.  a mere shadow of its former self, instead of tetris, its this game where you have to physically connect four like-colored blockles to one another to make a “break”… Its just stupid.  I miss blockles.

RIP old friend.  I will miss you.
